Are you practicing an outdated model of Chiropractic?
The symptoms of practicing an outdated model of practice include:
- Your patients are coming in for shorter periods of time,
- You only offer short-term symptomatic relief of pain,
- Completely insurance dependent,
- Your patients are more demanding, less appreciative and less respectful,
- Practice as a whole is stressful, less fun and lacking in profit,
- Did I mention CA woes as well?
The surprising thing about being in an outdated practice is that it creeps up on you gradually. Like a heart attack, it invisibly stalks you. Your patients aren’t aware of your outdated practice, but your spouse is because you’re constantly complaining, bitching and moaning and crabby. Your workload has increased to include 20-hours a week of administrative paperwork, and chasing insurance companies to get paid.
In other words, you work more, a lot more, and you receive less, a lot less.
Have you noticed how your overhead continues to rise while your net profit continues to sink?
Have you noticed how you communicate less and less about patient education, and more and more about symptoms?
For all of you spinal screeners out there: have you noticed the smaller returns on events that used to bring in so many new patients?
How about your weekly health awareness seminar? Truth be told you haven’t done one in months, years or ever. Just too darn hard to get people there.
Have you noticed the drop off with patients when the insurance runs out or the symptoms are improved?
Getting new patients is getting harder and harder and the quality is dropping all the time.
Believe it or not, these are signs of trying to swim upstream. You are practicing an outdated model of practice.
It takes so much less energy and you get so much better results when you stop using an outdated model of practice. Almost like using dial-up internet; so much effort and frustration, for such little or no results.
Some DCs simply endure and work harder, while receiving less and talking down Chiropractic. They are okay with shrinking. When the student is ready the teacher will appear. But if they aren’t willing to be helped, the teacher can do no good.
However, if a DC is willing to update and upgrade their model of practice, they will be attracting patients who want the best for their families. They will attract people who refer new patients, who readily accept and embrace new concepts about health, and who will pay inside or outside of insurance.
There must be a better way, and there is!
Look at the world of education for an example of an updated model. Parents who are not satisfied with the results of public school are welcome to enroll in private, Montessori, Charter, etc. If you as a parent have a child that has special needs or special gifts, there are schools designed to develop them. The parents are willing to pay for these schools because they are paying for superior results. The quality and character of these parents are unparalleled. They are different than public school parents. More committed, more behind their kids and they take responsibility to get the best teachers and environment for their kids. And what happens when they see the results that their kids are getting? They tell their friends, they join the PTA, organize events, etc. This is free recruitment and marketing for the school.
DCs all over the US and Canada are ditching the old, outdated way of practicing!

"I signed up for coaching with Dr. Kevin over a year ago to 'get more clients'. I got that and a hell of a lot more than I had ever expected, the least of which was not only more clients but a much, much higher income...With his guidance and support I have developed deeper and more meaningful relationships with my family members and partner, increased my clientele and my income exponentially, begin to live with more courage, confidence and integrity than I have ever experienced in my life and the most difficult to put into words and perhaps the most unexpected - a deeper sense of calm and inner peace than I have ever felt."
